We Invite You to the 15th World Day of the Sick!
With a pontifical letter of May 13, 1992, His Holiness Pope John Paul II
instituted the World Day of the Sick, which is celebrated every year on February 11, Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes. We
are very pleased to host the celebration of the fifteenth World Day of the Sick in Seoul, Korea on February 11, 2007.
On this World Day of the Sick, we will focus our concern on patients with incurable illnesses. The Catholic Church has constantly
made efforts in the field of medicine to find cures that respect the life and dignity of human person. It is also
an important mission of the Church to proclaim the Good News of God to the incurably ill. Taking this opportunity
of celebrating of the World Day of the Sick, we wish to find anew the image of Jesus who is suffering along with
patients and to proclaim Him who is "the Gospel of Life."
To the World Day of the Sick we invite patients who are suffering physically or mentally, their families, pastoral
workers for health care, volunteers, and all those who pray for the recovery of the sick.
